GRADE 3 VERSION
NOTE: There is also a version for grade 1 band, which is compatible with this version for combined band needs and other situations where you might need to mix and match parts from the two difficulty levels.
Engines of Wonder seeks to enthrall the players and audience alike with a soundworld of energizing hope. The piece opens with an optional ethereal introduction, and is then propelled by the pulsing groove of the electronics in an ever-growing sense of amazement and wonder.
I hope this music demonstrates to musicians at an early stage of their musical journey, as well as more advanced players, the power and joy of playing music together in a community, and spurs them to actively make music their entire lives.
This version commissioned by the Bund Deutscher Blasmusikverbände e. V. (BDB, German Wind Band Association) and its youth organisation, the BDB-Bläserjugend, led by Marco Geigges, in celebration of the 20th Summer Youth Music Camp and the association’s anniversary.
