Whirlwind is a brief, caffeinated work for symphony orchestra. Developed entirely from the opening scalar gesture, the music perpetually swirls around and through the ensemble, unfurling into a bombastic climax, then abruptly dissipating into thin air.

Transcribed by Verena Moesenbichler-Bryant.

Premiered

24 November 2013, Duke Medicine Orchestra, Verena Moesenbichler-Bryant, conductor
