TMEA 2014
Hey y’all! (I grew up in Arkansas, I have license to say “y’all”)
The Texas Music Educators Association convention is 11 days away! This year, I’ll be giving a clinic with composer Alex Shapiro, and conductors Robert Sloan and Miller Asbill covering technology and music education – everything from our pieces that use electronics (and how that works), to technology in the classroom/rehearsal hall. The clinic is part of TI:ME and will be Wed. Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m., room CC206.
Also fortunate to have FOUR performances this year:
- Thursday, 11:30am
Stephen F. Austin State University – Ecstatic Fanfare (John Mackey’s The Frozen Cathedral is also on the program!)
I was just out at SFASU last Fall, and true to Texas form, they have some fantastic ensembles out there. This concert is definitely worth your time. - Saturday, 9:30am
ATSSB/TMEA All-State Concert Band, Tim Rhea, conductor – Dusk - Saturday, 12:30pm
4A Symphonic Band, Johan De Meij, conductor – Ecstatic Fanfare - Saturday, 3:30pm
5A Concert Band, Roby George, conductor – Suite Dreams
Really looking forward to working with all the students in these ensembles! Check out the full all-state program.
Also stoked to hear the world premiere of John Mackey’s new “Wine-Dark Sea : Symphony for Band” by the UT Wind Ensemble, Thursday night!
See all y’all there!
